November 7th: Anthropology/Archeology

To be honest, I'm now not sure if the person I shadowed today was an Archeologist or Anthropologist, and I feel bad about now knowing, but I'm getting ahead of myself. Since I already had so many hours I could have technically not even shadowed anyone today, but I had set this up with the doctor and I was going to keep my apointment.
So, my mom and I arrive at the offices at 9 (it's in the same building, actually, the same floor my mother works at), but she wasn't there. She arrived at 9:30 and informed me that she had, apparently, told my guidance office that she needed to get in contact with me again, but I never got any message from them. In retropspect I probably should have sent out an e-mail to everyone I was shadowing a week or two ago to confirm this, but I have been busy with college applications, weird school days, sewing, and just life in general that it always slipped my mind.
And we didn't do much, we walked over to another building (it's funny, everyone at this college jaywalks but you have to be more careful about the bike riders than the car drivers) which was even uglier than the one my mom works in. Not that it's hideous, just, very dated in a bad way, some of the professors were joking that the building we were in saved the other one from the ugliest building title. And this one looked like it had some constuction going on in the basement as well (but that still doesn't explain why one of the paper despensers in the bathroom attacked me!). She showed me around the lab they had (thankfully no horrible smelling chemicals like I had been expecting) and the backyard of sorts they had. This was notable because A) It's where all the apple cores get thrown (I almost chucked mine over the fence!) and B) Where this HUGE kiln was, seriously, it was like a 20 foot tall metal hut, crazy! I showed the picture I took to my mom and brother later and they said it explained a lot, my mom had seen them building it and neither of them could figure out what it was for.
Anyway, catalouging is pretty simple, most of the information had already been written on little cards and I was just filling in a sheet that would go in a binder that would go in a database. So that was all pretty tame. Then around one we went back to her office, met up with the officers of the anthropology club, and went out to lunch (so I've been taken out to lunch 4 out of 5 days this week? Wow, I usually only eat out like, 8 times a year). I had some yummy "chicken" on a skewer, but it was sooo spicy as well.
Sigh, gotta go, if I remember anything else to post I'll make a big Sat/Sun post, signing off.
